The beauty of flowers

Faux flowers are growing in popularity and there are obvious benefits to these low maintenance artificial blooms - they provide instant decoration, they're cost-effective, and if you can't manage to keep your indoor plants alive, then faux ones are probably the best option for you.

While we strongly encourage you to bring the outside in and fill your living space with fresh flowers and plants (especially of the air purifying variety), there's no denying that faux blooms can provide the perfect finishing touch to your decor.

In fact, the rise in all things faux comes as John Lewis reveal that sales of their artificial flowers has increased by 15 per cent compared to last year.

'The growing popularity of faux flowers stems from the fact that you are not restricted by season,' says Clare Northwood, John Lewis' premium gifts buyer. 'You also don't have to worry about the livelihood of the flowers, making them much easier to display and with no time restrictions.'

Take a look at a selection of artificial flowers and plants below, and get some styling tips on how you can fill your

home with it to create a botanical haven.

'With faux flowers you can display them anywhere in the home, without having to worry about direct sunlight affecting them,' says Clare. 'When styling faux flowers you need to style each stem individually before adding it to an arrangement to make it look more realistic. Our flowers have a wired centre, enabling you to bend and cut them in order to achieve your perfect display.'

'Using the right shape vase for the flowers will also make a real difference to the look of display,' Clare continues. 'Foliage, for example, eucalyptus, also helps to bulk out displays. There's also the option to combine faux and real flowers, if say you wanted to "flesh out" an organic display.'#kitchen #hacks #cooking
